Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-04

This policy explains what Gaysht knows about you, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers passengers and drivers alike. Last updated 26 September 2026.

Who holds your information

گەیشت - GAYSHT, the business behind Gaysht, in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, decides what is collected and why. For anything in this policy, write to gaysht.iq@gmail.com.

What we collect from a passenger

Your name, mobile number and email address; the photo you choose; your date of birth, gender, nationality, occupation and blood type; your governorate and the home you pin on the map; and, if you give one, the name and number of somebody to call in an emergency. From your rides: where you were picked up and set down, when, the fare, the invoice, and your location while the map or a ride is open.

What we collect from a driver

Everything above, and the papers the law asks of a driver: your national card, driving licence, taxi licence and vehicle registration, photographs of the car, and a photograph of your face taken in the app. While you are carrying a passenger, your location is shared with that passenger so she can see you coming.

Why we use it

To open and keep your account, to prove the number is yours, to arrange rides and work out their fares from the real road, to take and hold and pay out money and to leave an invoice for each ride, to review a driver's papers, to keep rides safe and look into complaints, and to answer you when you write to us.

Who sees it

Your driver sees your name and where you are going, and your number and his are exchanged once a ride is taken, so you can call or message each other. Our review team sees a driver's papers. Somebody you named as an emergency contact sees your live location only while Share my ride is on. We never sell your information, and we never give it to advertisers.

The companies that help us run Gaysht

Some work is done for us by others, each seeing only what its job needs: Supabase keeps the database and the accounts; HERE measures the roads and draws the maps (a point is sent to it, never your name); OTPIQ sends the code to your phone; Google sends our emails and carries notifications; Apple and Google confirm who you are when you sign in through them; and the payment house handles card payments. Their servers are outside Iraq.

Payments

Card payments are made on the payment house's own page. Gaysht never sees and never keeps your card number. What we keep is the amount, the time, and the receipt number they give back.

Your location

The app asks the phone for your location only while you are looking at the map, requesting a ride, or on one. You can refuse it in your phone's settings and place the pin by hand instead. A driver's location is followed only during a ride he has taken.

How long we keep it

Your account and its details stay while the account is open. Rides, invoices and payments are kept as long as the law and our books require, even after an account is closed, because they are the record of money that really moved. A driver's papers are kept while he drives with us and for as long afterwards as the law says.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Profile, or ask us at gaysht.iq@gmail.com. Your name, number, photo and details go. What must stay by law -- the invoices and the record of payments -- stays, with as little about you in it as the law allows.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct anything wrong, to have it deleted, or to object to something we do with it. Write to gaysht.iq@gmail.com and we answer within 30 days.

Children

Gaysht is not for children travelling alone. An account may not be opened by anybody under 12, and a child younger than that travels with a parent or guardian.

Keeping it safe

Your details travel encrypted and are kept on servers we lock down; only the few people who need to do their work can reach them, and every such look is written into a log. No system is perfect, and if something happens that puts your information at risk we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we tell you in the app before the change applies, and the date at the top says when it last changed.
